Vine weavil

This question was asked by
Ingrid Davies

I have vine weavil in my garden and they seem to like my hosta any advice
Thanks

Hi Ingrid
Sorry to hear this
You can dig it up clean if off, have a careful look for any grubs and relocate thise to heaven via a birds beak on the bird table:-)
(if you know what I mean )
Then for any you might have missed order your nematodes online now or get them from a good garden centre and water on as instructed
Remembering to keep the pot moist (not water logged ) for two weeks and stir the solution up vigorously before applying to each plant
Hope this helps
Kind regards Vicky

How many to put into boarder

This question was asked by
Allan Harding

We have a small area about 6 foot by 5 foot that I would like to clear out and plant with Heucheras. It gets sun from about 10 in the morning to early afternoon. It is a raised bed so how should I prepare it. I have access to horse manure is this good for them? Should I add gravel we have good soil that seems to drain well. So which type of Heucheras should we buy and when best to plant, and how many would go in this area? Many thanks Allan Harding

Hi Allan
Sorry for late reply
We recommend 4 or 5 plants per square metre
Avoid lime colours as they need some shade
Reds, purples, oranges, Black etc most love the sun (our website tells you what do and dont so handy tool to use )
Horse manure as long as well rotted can’t do any harm
Heucheras love well drained soil but hate water logged
Hope that helps

Heucheras to make bed studded with jewels

This question was asked by
Rodney

I have a bed in my garden triangular in shape 2.4m long 1.5m wide tapering to a point. The site is full sun (when it shines) and irrigated. In South Warwickshire
I would like to plant Heaucheras/Heaucherellas to give for a while, a series of jewelled blobs, I know that they will eventually join together but I saw a National Trust bed that had that effect, if you think that they are better closer together plan it that way
I have made a list of plants that I like but I would appreciate your advise, as the experts, to help me achieve the effect that I am looking for, and the plants needed.
With many thanks

Hi Rodney
Thank you for your email
As a guide we usually recommend 4 or 5 plants per square metre to give that effect
We still have some of the varieties you mention but not all until next year now but we do have alternatives
If your wanting to get it done this year varieties are selling out fast
There will be more of some varieties in late September but obviously not all
If you can’t order what you want online send a list with how many of each to info@plantagogo.com and we will do the order by telephone
Hope this helps
Kind regards
Vicky
