open days 2020

This question was asked by
Lizzie P

Hi there,

I was wondering if you had the dates yet for your 2020 open days?
If not, do you know roughly when you might have them? My sister is a huge heuchera fan and she turns 40 in April. I wanted to surprise her with a visit to one of your open days but she isn’t local, so just looking at the calendar before she books herself up with other things.
Best wishes,
Lizzie

Coach Access

This question was asked by
M. Mccarthy

Hi

We have been asked by a group that would like to visit for a price for a coach. Please can you confirm whether we can get a coach to you or what alternative arranemetns there are? It is a small coach 35 seat – 9m in lenth.

Many thanks

Max

Hi Max
Thank you for your enquiry
In the past we have had large coaches drop at the front then park in a lay by about 1 mile away.
We can get 7 1/2 ton lorries into the drive comfortably so you might be ok.
Its a double drive, the lane is narrow which can be an issue for long vehicles.

If they are coming they need to book a slot with us and arrange a price.
We are not open all the time only open days and by prior arrangement.

Hope that helps if you need any further info please just ask

Kind regards vicky

Why can I only order 1 plant?

This question was asked by
Annice M

Why can I not order more than 1 plant of a geum?

Hi Annice
Was it Geum Flames of Passion?
If its that variety we only have 1 left until spring, when we will have more.
Some of the other Geum’s are still available in quantities
Hope that helps
Kind regards

Vine Weevils and How to Check for Them

This question was asked by
Laura M

Hi, I purchased a dark coloured Heuchera from you at the Hampton Court festival back in July and
I have noticed something is starting the eat the leaves. I have googled and the marks look similar to vine weevils. Is this likely to be the case and do you have any advice on prevention?
Thank

Hi Laura
Sorry to hear that
If you are worried carefull dig it up take look at the roots leave it on the surface of the soil for a day, near the bird table if are any grubs the birds should pick through (grubs do the most damage)
Afterwards wash the root pour boiling water in the hole then replant, when soil is cold again.
If in pot wash the pot and the roots and replant into fresh multi purpose compost.
In future it’s easier to nematode in late august beginning of September.
Hope this helps

Trailing plants

This question was asked by
C. Harding

Is it a good time to plant trailing Heucherella now for autumn/winter to replace summer annuals now dying off? Can you recommend plants that you have stock of. Many thanks.
Ps. Just received recent order absolutely lovely, thank you

Hi Christine
Pleased you liked your last order
Thanks for letting us know.

Yes now is a good time to plant replacements for summer bedding
We have Heuchererella Redstone falls
The Yellowstone falls which I have attached.
You can put any heuchera in baskets, especially if you mix the trailng and the upright.
Heucherella solar power, red rover and solar eclipse are also good as they cascade, not long trailers like the falls series but they cover baskets well
I hope this helps
Kind regards vicky
