Choice of plants for sunny borders

I have bought heucheras to grow in pots from you , which I am delighted with! Now I have decided I would like something from you to go at the front of 2 borders, to save putting in begonias every year. I have 2 borders about 7 foot wide with an arch in middle. Borders are south facing, and both have assorted green bushes and a few taller flowers, behind where I want these smaller plants Would have liked both borders matching, but drainage on one has poor drainage {clay soil} if we have a lot of rain. I love your new fleur plant {to go in better drained one} and wonder if you could suggest anything else similar to plant alternately with this  Also if you could suggest any of you perenials or anything else to go in poor drainage side, I would be so grateful! See you soon as I have another order being processed!

Hi Jean
Pleased your enjoying your plants from us
On the wet side the heucheras will struggle
There isn’t any way around that unless you can raise the border or improve the soil etc
So only plants that we will be doing shortly is candelabra primrose we will have 3 varieties red, pink and orange this year (coming to website next few weeks plants grown but not had time to put on yet )
Plants to mix with heuchera fleur would be black taffeta, bilberry Cajun fire and forever purple (last two ready soon )
Hope this helps
Kind regards Vicky

3 Shows Left for 2017

We only have three shows left for 2017, we can hardly believe we are already in September it’s been that busy this year! From all the shows, to potting to wedding planning, it seems we’ve been on the go forever. Wouldn’t change a thing though, and there’s been some fantastic shows this year.

Coming up we have RHS Wisley Autumn Show from the 5th-10th of September, which is in their 25th year! Raymond Blanc will be opening the show this year with other highlights including the sculpture trail, the people’s dahlia competition, and of course all the specialist nurseries and growers including us!

Next will be Harrogate Autumn Flower show, which always promises to be full of colour and really gets you into the Autumnal spirit. Join us September 15th-17th and we are looking forward to seeing what giant vegetables are in store this year for the famous annual competition.

We will be finishing the show season with the Malvern Autumn show September 23rd-24th. There will be a host of celebrities, cookery workshops and of course lots of plants!

Our last open days of the year are September 29-October 1st 10am-4pm each day. Come have a nosy around our nursery, enjoy some home made cake and take home some plants that catch your eye.

Resheath Horticultural Enthusiasts Association Nursery Visit

Last week on Wednesday Resheath horticultural enthusiasts association came to visit out nursery and hear some talks about plant care. We do love these sorts of visits as everyone is always very keen to learn new things, and any excuse to have some cake and chat over a cup of tea is a good one!

Thanks again for coming ladies and gents! If you’d like to book your own tour of our nursery, please get in touch for availability. We are open by appointment only, or if you’re free you can pop along to our next (and last of the season!) open days which are September 29th-October 1st every day from 10am-4pm.

New Heuchera ‘Fleur’ Now Available

Heuchera ‘Fleur’ is a new plant bred by us that we’ve shown for the first time at Southport Flower Show this past weekend.

Fleur is a small variety making it very pretty and dainty. The pale pink-white flowers stick around for months while the foliage changing colour with the seasons. In the spring time it has more orange tones with deeper marbling.

You can now buy Fleur in our shop here.

Southport Flower Show 2017

We are nearing the end of show season now with just three more to go after Southport! We do tend to grow our show plants nice and big, but this means they are heavier to carry around and plant into our show garden!

Heuchera ‘Fleur’ is a new plant bred by us that we showed at the Southport show for the first time. Now available online.

Some behind the scenes photos of the nurseries around us getting their stands ready.

While Richard held down the stand at the show, I headed back as there was a lot of potting and weeding that needed to get done so we can make sure our sales plants are in top shape.

Our next show is Wisley the 5th of September, as always if you are going please do pop by and say hi to us on our stand.
