RHS Malvern Spring Show 2019

Malvern Spring show was another great one, and saw us bringing home a gold! Here’s a few photos from the show, and that’s Richard up there peeping through the hanging baskets!

We will try and bring some hanging baskets to sell at the shows as they are proving to be quite popular among our customers.

Which Plants Will You Add to Your Garden?

With the weather getting nicer, we’re sure you’ve started taking stock on plants an colours you’d like to add to your collection, so here are a few we have available right now, ready to go to their new place in your garden!

Above is Tiarella ‘Appalachian Trail’ which is a great trailing variety, and also works a treat for ground cover as it spreads. Bright green leaves and frothy white flowers means bees love this one!

Heuchera ‘Tokyo’ has colour changing leaves, from what you see above to bright green with sprouts of red flowers.

If you’re after some bright bold colour, Heuchera ‘Zipper’ is your plant! Bright orange in the spring changing to a golden amber as the year goes on. It’s a versatile plant being able to adapt to shade, partial shade or even full sun.

Heuchera ‘Guacamole’ is a plant on a LARGE scale! It grows huge foliage with large white flowers that spring up and sway about in the summer and autumn.

Talk about some shine, Heuchera ‘Glitter’ actually seems to glitter in the sunlight with it’s silvery leaves and dark veining. It’s great at growing flowers too. Another versatile one being able to thrive in shade, partial shade or full sun.

Harrogate Spring Show 2019

Richard got the lucky job of staying at Harrogate show and holding down the stand while Vicky drove back and forth handling the nursery. It’s hard being in two places at once! But we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We have all you lovely customers to thank as well for your continued support, so thank you!

Here’s some photos from our setup at this years Harrogate spring show, and our lovely Premier Gold medal to add to our collection.

At many of our shows, don’t forget we offer a click and collect service. We unfortunately can’t bring all our plants, so if there’s something specific you’re wanting, this is a great option to make sure you get the plants you want to add to your garden.

You also save the postage bit, leaving you more money for more plants! When you go to checkout, just make sure it is an option at the show you plan on attending.

Planting Tips : Keeping Huecheras in Pots Healthy

These pictures show what to do to keep heucheras in pots looking good and keep them going for years!

Every 3 to 5 years or whenever you notice they are getting a bit stalky, just tidy all the foliage off. Clear out the leaves and debris from around the crowns.

Then if you want it to go back in the same pot, chop a bit off the bottom of the roots about 1 to 2 inches if they are not too stalky picture 6.

Picture 7 just rake the sides a little to encourage the roots to grow (dont go mad!) I like to shamfer the flat top of the root ball, as you can see in picture 9. This gets rid of seeds and weeds that may be on the top and leaves more room to add some nice fresh compost with a teaspoon of slow release feed per pot (keep a look out as we will be selling this soon).

Then put back into post with small amount of compost at the bottom.and top dress on the top making sure not to bury the crown, only the stalks. Then water and make sure the water comes out of the bottom of the pot. Little feet under the pots are good for this.
