RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018

The biggest show of the season is now finished, and we are already onto Chatsworth show! We took home our 10th gold medal at our 10th RHS Chelsea Flower show. We couldn’t be more thrilled!

We also were interviewed for BBC 2’s series on the show, which was really interesting to watch, hearing from the different specialist nurseries (like ourselves!) and the creators behind the show gardens. You can still find the episodes on catch up if you’re interested here. Our segment is in episode 14, 12.45 in.

We will be operating our Click and Collect at most of the shows we attend this year, so if you want to save a bit on postage and ensure we bring the plants you want, please choose this option on checkout.

If you weren’t able to make it and want to see a sample of what was at Chelsea Flower Show, we compiled some of our photos from the week. We hope you enjoy them!

We have our open days at the end of this month, the 23rd and 24th of June from 10am-4pm each day. We put all our medals out on display, have home-made cakes and refreshments, and let you tour around our nursery and choose any plants you’d like to purchase to take home. We love open days as it’s a great chance to get to chat with you lovely lot. Hope to see you there!

Feeding my Heucheras

This question was asked by
Julie J

I recently visited your excellent stand at Chelsea and it said on there that heuchera grown in a pot could be fed in spring to help maintain a healthy plant. Problem is I can’t remember what you said to feed it with!! Also, should I remove some of the old soil and replace with fresh?

Hi Julie
The feed we recommend is liquid seaweed feed (like the Seasol feed we sell on our website here) and slow release pellets.
When you tidy Heuchera as top dress with fresh compost and top up once a year with slow release fertilizer.
Feed once a month with the seaweed
Hope this helps
Kind regards

Advice on Looking after Heuchera

This question was asked by
Urszula B

Hello. I’m very sorry to bother you but I have just ordered some heucheras from you. I’m going to plant them in containers/for the patio display/. What kind of compost should I use? /Multipurpose or multipurpose with John Innes/.Should I also mix the compost with some potting grit? How often do I need to feed my plants and what kind of food is the best for them/ slow release or liquid food every week/? I have heard that heucheras do not like a lot of food.
Many thank for your advise.
Urszula.

Hi urszula
Thank you for your orders
Hope your enjoying your plants.
Any type of multi purpose compost no need for John innes
You can put grit in the bottom as that aids drainage
Your right Heucher as don’t need too much feed ..We think the best feed is a bit of slow release in the pot and a feed with liquid seaweed once every couple of months to make them grow beautifully xx
Hope this helps
Kind regards
Vicky

RHS Malvern Spring Show 2018

RHS Malvern show didn’t disappoint this year, it was a beautiful, well thought out show with a HUGE flower marquee for us all! We were happy our educational display took home a gold medal, as always it’s a lot of fun discussing differences between our plants and how best to look after them.

A big thank you to each and every one of you who took home a plant as well, we are really pleased with how the plants are growing this year with their beautiful bright leaves ready to go into your garden.

This year potential new exhibitors came around to have a chat and see what show life is all about, 2 lovely groups of nurserymen and growers!

We always like doing these recaps of the shows and share photos as we know so many people would love to go but may not be close enough to attend. It seems the displays get more spectacular every year. Next up is our biggest show of the season, RHS Chelsea!

Harrogate Spring Show 2018

We’re back from Harrogate now and we started off with a very eventful morning at the start seeing that our plants had gotten blown over the night before with the strong winds! This meant a quick trip home to grab some more plants before the display got finished. What a start to the season! We got everything up for judging though and all our sales plants set up on time so we still did it.

This year we went for an educational display based on questions we get from our lovely customers, and we’re happy to announce we got a premier gold award for it! So thank you so much for your questions, we love helping with your gardens. Thanks for everyone who stopped by to say hi or buy some plants from us over the weekend.

Malvern show is next up May 10th-May 13th. If you’d like to per-order plants you can use our ‘click and collect’ service to save on postage and to make sure we bring the plants you want to take home.
